Morrow County commissioners approve consent items, OK sheriff transfer after brief questions; proclaim March Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

The Morrow County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine consent items and took a separate vote later in the meeting to approve a previously tabled transfer from the sheriff's levy fund.

Early on the agenda the board moved and approved the minutes of the regular session of 03/03/2025 and authorized payment of bills and receipts from local jurisdictions. Commissioners also approved a transfer from the general fund to inmate medical, and approved a satisfaction of mortgage for Victoria Trout along with an appropriation of certified funds to report that satisfaction.

A transfer from sheriff's levy fund 2914 drew questions when a commissioner asked, "What is fund 2914?" and was told, "The levy." Commissioners expressed concern that funds were being shifted from employee wages to equipment and professional services; they moved to table the transfer pending discussion with the sheriff's office. After recess, the board took the item up again and approved the transfer for the sheriff's lobby by roll call, with recorded affirmative votes for Mister Mason, Mister Abraham and Mister Siegfried.

The board adopted a proclamation designating March 2025 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. The proclamation text referenced the establishment of county boards of developmental disabilities by the Ohio General Assembly on 10/25/1967 and said the Morrow County Board of Developmental Disabilities serves "more than 300 people with developmental disabilities." Commissioners presented a certificate and paused for photographs.
