The Morrow County Board of Commissioners voted to authorize the chairman to sign the Phase 1 submission checklist for the Marconi Jail expansion and renovation, a step county staff said begins a 6–10 week review process.
Project manager Becker told the board that once the application is received the reviewing agency "will review everything," schedule a site visit and "they'll call us" to set a time. Becker said there was a "very good chance that we might not see an appointment until April," noting the agency had just closed a grant round in March.
Becker said Adam Columbus would "sit down with the board and review the whole project" during the forthcoming review meeting. He described the internal steps as involving the job administrator and two commissioners and estimated the evaluation process at "about 6 to 10 week[s]."
Commissioners approved the motion by roll call; the transcript records affirmative votes for Mister Mason, Mister Abraham and Mister Siegfried. The motion authorized the chairman to sign the submission checklist but did not authorize construction spending or a contract award; further approvals and procurement actions will be required if the project advances.
The board did not set a date for the next public update; Becker indicated staff would return once the reviewing agency schedules the meeting and site visit.
