Drug task force reports August seizures, approves dispositions and sets Oct. 22 meeting

The Judicial Drug Task Force on Sept. 4 reviewed its August operations and finances, approved prior minutes and a case disposition, and scheduled its next meeting for Oct. 22 in Springdale.
Tanya Tannehill presented the fiscal report, saying total expenses as of Aug. 31 were $163,815. She reported the task force received the first-quarter payment from the prosecutor coordinator's office: "$87,500 which will cover July, August, and September. That money was received on the 09/16/2025," she said, and noted the total award amount was $350,000. Tannehill also said the state drug crime fund issued a first-quarter payment of $56,558.75 against a $272,390 award; last year the prosecutor award had been $500,000.
Lieutenant Chris Boaten gave the August activity report: "In August 2025, we opened 49 cases and closed 34 with an arrest," he said. He listed seizures including 60 grams of marijuana, 8,692 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of cocaine, ecstasy pills, psilocybin mushrooms, 2.1 grams of fentanyl and fentanyl pills, 23 prescription pills (10 opiates), five firearms and $1,731 in currency. He also reported costs for evidence purchases and that the unit executed warrants.
The board accepted a disposition for case DTF 23115 (State of Arkansas v. Chiliphong suponisine) describing an arrest and a $867 seizure on April 25, 2023; $433 was returned to the defendant or counsel and remaining funds were distributed per agency procedures. Sheriff Campbell moved to accept the disposition and Chief Hudson seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Earlier in the agenda, Jake Hansel moved and Hudson seconded approval of the minutes from the Aug. 20, 2025 meeting. Later, Jay Cantrell moved to set the next meeting for Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Springdale Police Department administration meeting room, with a second recorded as 'Huntsville'; the motion passed.
No votes were taken on the public proposal to pilot a social-worker-integrated response; that item was referred for further review. The meeting adjourned after setting the next meeting date.
