Court accepts David Chapman plea; three-year institutional sentence imposed

The judge confirmed Chapman reviewed the plea paperwork with counsel and understood he would be waiving appeal rights if the court followed the agreement. After finding him competent and that there was sufficient evidence, the court sentenced Chapman according to the agreement to a term of three years in the institutional division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, with credit for time served as allowed by law.
Judge provided standard admonishments about firearm-possession ineligibility that flow from the conviction and handed Chapman the trial-court certification showing that his right to appeal was waived.
