Mona — The Mona City Council voted to join the statewide America250/Utah250 bicentennial program and accept a $1,500 allocation to support local celebrations.
Staff explained the state program supplies branding, event templates and a traveling display; grant funds are first‑come, first‑served and come with conditions on branding and allowable uses (for example, funds may not be used for raffle prizes but can be used for merchandise and promotional materials). Staff recommended forming a local celebration committee (with one legislative representative) and submitting a Qualtrics application and required documents (including a resolution) to capture the funds.
Council approved the resolution and the formation of a local celebrations committee; the county had separately approved a similar resolution. Staff said the state contact will follow up in January and that early submission was recommended to secure funds.
The $1,500 is intended to support local programming in July 2026 as part of the national/state bicentennial activities.
