Jacob Weiss presented three main elements: "converting Byington Road and Melrose Ave to 2 way traffic," making a pedestrian-friendly section of Grand Avenue between dormitories with a transit hub and amenities, and adding bicycle and pedestrian connections to close gaps in the network. Weiss said the two-way conversion would allow westbound traffic to route south on Byington and then west on Melrose, bypassing the busy dorm/transit area and reducing passenger and pedestrian conflicts during bus pickup and drop-off.
Weiss described two transit-hub orientations under consideration: locating bus pickups within the Grand Avenue pedestrian mall or keeping buses on South Grand with a larger loop movement; he said the buses would generally follow the proposed two-way Byington–Melrose routing. For bicycles, the team proposed a two-way bikeway on the north side of Burlington that would continue on Grand and split at Byington into Route A (serving dorms and bike parking) and Route B (a through-route for travelers).
The team invited public comment at the in-room boards and via the survey on which transit-hub orientation and bicycle routing attendees prefer.
