Colfax County commissioners approve fourth-quarter financial report and adopt final 2024 budget

Colfax County commissioners approved two financial measures during the meeting: a final fourth-quarter financial report (Resolution 2024-29) and adoption of the county’s final 2024 budget (Resolution 2024-30).

Finance staff member Ty told the commission that all journal entries had been input and adjusted and that the county had no negative fund balances. “I have inputted all the journal entries, and before you is the quarterly. We have no negative balances. Everything’s been adjusted,” Ty said.

Commissioners praised the work. Commissioner Weir said the general entries and the fund bars had been done appropriately, and Commissioner Kern had no questions. A motion to approve the fourth-quarter report was made and seconded; the clerk recorded affirmative roll-call responses (three recorded "Yes" responses in the transcript) and the motion passed.

On the budget, Ty said the difference between budgeted revenues and expenditures was approximately $184,985, transfers had been zeroed, and the spreadsheet showed ending cash for all funds of about $4,000,009.24 (the transcript contains formatting anomalies across a few entries). The chairman said he may request a special budget workshop in the near future and encouraged department heads to review their budgets; several commissioners agreed.

A motion to adopt the final budget (Resolution 2024-30) was moved and seconded. During roll call the clerk recorded affirmative responses from Mister Craig and Mister Webb and additional "Yes" responses; the motion carried. Ty said he would email commissioners after submissions were completed and after receiving DFA comments.

No amendments or conditions to either resolution were recorded during this meeting.
