Staff said Illinois deregulated electricity purchasing for municipalities in 2007 and that NIMAC has represented over 170 member municipalities and related entities; if the village selects a supplier recommended by NIMAC, NIMAC's compensation is included in contracted electricity prices rather than paid directly by the village. Village staff stressed the resolution applies only to municipal accounts — buildings, water pumping stations, parking lot lighting — and does not change rates or contracts for residential customers.
Trustees voted to approve the resolution by voice vote.
