On Nov. 11 the Huntington Beach City Council unanimously approved a councilmember item directing staff to continue development of a comprehensive real estate holdings spreadsheet. Councilman Kennedy said staff is compiling a multi‑tab template to catalogue approximately 110 city-owned properties, with fields for lease terms, rent, insurance, landlord/tenant obligations, and key dates. The item directs the city manager to convene follow‑up meetings with council sponsors and staff and to return with a final template for council review.
City staff credited Jennifer Villasenor and the community development/economic development team for compiling the initial dataset and said the effort aims to reduce missed revenue, centralize records, and make asset management more transparent and accessible to council and staff. Councilmembers praised the effort as routine fiduciary stewardship and voted 7-0 to move the project forward.
