Castle Valley building-permit update: three permits in January; application-form updates tabled

Colleen Thompson, Castle Valley’s building-permit agent, told the Planning and Land Use Commission on Feb. 6 that the town issued three building permits in January: a residential permit for Lot 121 (owner listed as Judy Navroian), a certificate of land-use compliance for additions on Lot 428 (Patty Jackson), and a decommissioning contract for a temporary dwelling associated with the Lot 121 permit.
The commission then considered agenda item 6 — proposed updates to land-use application forms to align with recent ordinance changes (85-3 and 95-6). The item was untabled for discussion but commissioners said staff will produce at least one new form next month and they moved to table further action until revised language and sample forms are ready. Commissioners asked members to review proposed form language and related materials prior to the next meeting so the group can consolidate suggested edits.
Why it matters: the permit report offers a snapshot of local building activity; the commission’s decision to table form updates gives staff time to reconcile ordinance language (especially where lot-division and slope provisions might overlap) before bringing finalized application materials to the public.
