Ratcliffe also said councilors met in private ‘‘to speak about getting rid of your police department altogether.’’ He described the situation as ‘‘disheartening’’ to officers and their families and urged council to ‘‘reaffirm your commitment to the Price City Police Department through actions, not words.’’
