Price — Price City staff updated the council June 11 on plans for new pickleball courts and said the city is close to securing the funding needed to build them.
According to staff, the engineer completed design work and the total project cost estimate, including contingency, is $250,000. The city currently has $80,000 allocated, and council said Mayor Toryannis has verbal commitments for another $20,000. Council discussed the possibility of taking $150,000 from ZAP (recreation/amenity) tax funds to cover the remainder. If funding is finalized and bids come in within budget, construction could begin this fall.
Council members and residents noted heavy demand for courts at the 4th North park and supported timely construction. Staff and council will finalize funding and contractor procurement if the funding plan is approved at a future meeting.
Next step: staff to secure remaining commitments, finalize funding sources, and present procurement options for contractor selection.
