The Stayton Planning Commission voted on Sept. 30 to continue the site-plan review for a proposed Dollar General at 101 Whitney Street after staff reported the applicant had engaged Oregon counsel and requested more time.
Chair Larry McKinley opened the continuation for land use file 1006/24, describing the proposal as a 10,640-square-foot commercial building with parking, access and landscaping. Planning staff said Dollar General had retained an attorney in Oregon and asked for a continuance on the site-plan review; staff recommended the commission keep the hearing open while zone-eligibility and related legal questions are resolved.
Commissioner Lundt moved to continue the hearing and to keep it open; Richard Lewis seconded the motion, which carried by voice vote. The commission noted that continuing the hearing preserves administrative efficiency (avoiding restarting notification procedures) while any city council decisions or legal clarifications are finalized.
Other brief items after the vote included staff distribution of a downtown parking study flyer and informal updates on an "ice house" project and the Norpac site.
