Presenters Shane Scott and Matt Levitt said the voter-approved emergency services sales tax will produce a full year of revenue in 2026, moving sales tax to roughly 35% of county revenues and property tax to about 36%. Council members and staff emphasized that, while the change helps balance the budget, "sales tax is much more volatile than property taxes," and the county used conservative projections when modeling next year’s revenues.
