COG appoints interim chair for January meeting, approves minutes and adjourns
Summary
The Council of Governments appointed ‘Megan’ as chair for the next meeting (January), approved the Sept. 16, 2025 minutes, and adjourned. The interlocal agreement and several policy items were deferred for further drafting.
During the Nov. 17 Summit County Council of Governments meeting, members handled several procedural items after a lengthy policy discussion.
A motion to appoint Megan to chair the January meeting was moved (Speaker 4) and seconded (Speaker 2). The motion passed with a majority in favor and at least one recorded opposed speaker. Members then discussed scheduling and tentatively agreed to Monday, Jan. 26, 2026 as the next meeting date to allow incoming mayors time to be sworn in.
The COG approved the minutes from the Sept. 16, 2025 meeting after a motion to approve (Speaker 1) and a second (Speaker 4); that motion carried.
The group moved to defer a proposed interlocal cooperation agreement and certain contested policy items (including potential funding caps) to future meetings for more detailed drafting and consideration. The meeting ended after a motion and second to adjourn.
Formal actions recorded at the meeting include the interim appointment of a chair for the next meeting, approval of prior minutes and adjournment.
