Summit County advisory committee hears data showing rising rents, aging population and tools for targeting affordable housing

Jeff Jones, county staff, briefed the Eastern Summit County Agriculture Preservation and Open Lands Advisory Committee on demographic and housing market data and new analytic tools, saying the information will guide the county's housing strategy.
Jones listed the primary data sources used by staff — ESRI Business Analyst, Lightcast (LICAST), Bureau of Labor Statistics, Novogradac's Rent and Income Calculator, Kimball Gardner Policy Institute and Placer AI — and said the county is running monthly updates to track changes in rents, jobs and visitors. “It is a very big brother in a lot of ways,” Jones said of Placer AI while describing its ability to show visitor peaks, trade areas and daily visit durations.
