Summit County Board of Health welcomes new public health nurse and board member

The Summit County Board of Health opened its meeting by introducing two new additions to department operations and governance.
Kelsey Fillmore, the department’s new public health nurse based in the Park City office, described three programs she will oversee: targeted case management for Medicaid-enrolled children ages 0–8, Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) services for ages 0–20, and a homebound vaccination and outreach program for elderly residents. “There’s three main programs that I’m gonna be over and kinda navigating,” Fillmore said, explaining she conducts in-home assessments, connects families to services such as WIC and early intervention, and helps arrange transportation and follow-up for appointments.
The board also welcomed Andy Hecht, who fills a seat vacated by Chris Cherniak. Hecht said his background is in sustainability and education and that he currently manages climate work for a community foundation; he told members he will become executive director for Recycle Utah on Jan. 1. “I’m interested in community. I love Park City, and strengthening community through all sorts of efforts, specifically sustainability and recycling initiatives,” Hecht said.
Board members and staff outlined contact methods for referrals to Fillmore’s programs and encouraged coordination with school nurses and community partners. The personnel introductions were followed by the board’s regular business items.
