Committee approves three sheriff’s office grant items: detainee medications, AEDs and telecom services

Member Phelan reported three public-safety resolutions related to the sheriff’s office and said each passed unanimously in committee.
The first item was a grant rollover that will provide funds to purchase medications used in detainee recovery programs. The second was a grant (described as a Grama award) to purchase about 45 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be placed in service with the sheriff’s department. The third item is approval of telecommunications services for iPads and phones used in the jail.
Phelan described these as routine operational items to maintain and enhance detainee care and emergency response capability. The committee recorded unanimous support for all three items.
