Summary
The infrastructure panel outlined awarded contracts for a jail HVAC/electrical and a kitchen upgrade (~$294,000), a $242,000 township silk-coating bid, bridge engineering contracts, and a Sheridan Road project backed by $10 million in state funds to be split roughly 50/50 with the City of Peoria.
Member Salzer summarized six infrastructure resolutions brought to the executive committee, providing project descriptions and estimated costs.
On the jail renovation, Salzer said HVAC work went to Gruul and electrical work to Laser, and described a necessary kitchen upgrade with an estimated cost of $294,000 that the sheriff plans to fund from his budget. Salzer said some bid items were deferred but that work could be completed rapidly once approvals are in place; one speaker said the kitchen project might be finished by late next summer.
Road projects highlighted included BECCA oil work affecting Kickapoo and Civil Defense/Chico Edwards Road and a township silk-coating project in Limestone Township with a single bid by Cullinan for $242,000. Salzer described an intergovernmental Sheridan Road project — including Sheridan from Glen to Northmoor — that has $10,000,000 in state funds and will be shared roughly 50/50 between the county and the City of Peoria for cost overruns or additional engineering.
Member Salzer also noted Airport Road work and a required engineering contract (an engineering firm Terra was named) with an estimated engineering payment of about $67,000. Bridge inspection and preservation work (Taylor Ridge and others) will use a familiar engineering firm, with an example contract for engineering services noted at approximately $165,000.
Salzer framed these as routine infrastructure contracts and urged timely procurement; committee members asked no questions that altered scope. The committee review concluded with no recorded objections, and committee discussion moved forward to other agenda items.
