Torrance City Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2025-73 honoring Kenneth Evans for 43 years of service to the city and presented a centenarian proclamation recognizing Ruth Kamiko Enidami.
City staff introduced the resolution honoring Evans; a councilmember moved adoption, the motion was seconded and the resolution carried unanimously. Later in the meeting Mayor George Chan read a centenarian proclamation summarizing Enidami's life: born Nov. 26, 1925 in Los Angeles, relocation to an internment camp during World War II, later civic contributions including founding donor status for the Japanese American National Museum, graduation from the University of Southern California in 1971, and long-time Torrance residency. Family members accepted the proclamation at the dais; grandson Ryan thanked the mayor and council "on behalf of my grandmother." Mayor Chan and councilmembers posed for photos with the honorees.
The items were ceremonial recognitions and required no further council action.
