SAN FRANCISCO — At the March 12 commission meeting, Executive Director Paul Henderson of the Department of Police Accountability said the charter-mandated use-of-force audit has moved into the survey phase and that DPA will launch a risk-based audit plan informed by commissioner input.
Henderson said the policy division is finalizing work on DGO 6.16 (sexual-assault related DGO) and will begin stakeholder engagement for DGO 6.09 (domestic violence). He reported opening 63 new cases and closing 69 since the last meeting, with 98 cases pending with the chief's office and two pending with the commission. He said 16 investigations have been open longer than 270 days, adding that 15 of those are currently tolled (paused) for reasons such as awaiting third-party records or juvenile records requiring motions and legal steps.
Henderson offered to meet one-on-one with commissioners as the audit timeline is refined and provided contact information for community members to reach DPA by phone and via sfgov.org/dpa.
