Committee recommends approvals on minutes, permits, change order and several contracts
Summary

• Minutes and permits: The committee moved and approved the July 8, 2024 Public Works Committee minutes and the July 2024 water and sewer permits by voice vote.
• Change Order No. 1 (storm sewer manholes): Marco explained designers’ shop drawings required upsizing two precast manholes (one from 48 inches to 60 inches, the other from 60 inches to 72 inches) to maintain structural integrity. Paul Sorrero moved to recommend the village board approve Change Order No. 1 for the East County Highway X contract; Michael seconded. The committee approved the recommendation by voice vote. Staff estimated the incremental cost at roughly $4,000 for each structure and listed a combined total of $5,006.74.
• Well rehabilitation contracts (wells 2 and 5): Staff presented two contractor proposals and recommended Municipal Well Pump for wells 2 and 5 based on price and prior experience. Committee members discussed whether the gate-valve replacement was included; staff clarified the $64,764 total includes the gate-valve work as presented. The committee approved the recommendation to award the work and forward the contract(s) to the village board.
• Arrowhead Estates construction-representative contract: Staff recommended contracting MTS for construction-inspection services at a proposed price range of approximately $5,001.30–$5,006.40 for the Arrowhead Estates subdivision. The committee moved and approved the recommendation to the village board.
Procedural notes: All motions were made in committee and approved by voice vote; where dollar amounts were discussed staff indicated the full contract or change-order totals to be included in board packets. The committee’s approvals are recommendations that will be finalized by the village board where required.
