The Amelia County Economic Development Authority handled routine business at its June meeting, approving the minutes and accepting the treasurer’s report before moving on to project updates and announcements.
Chair (Speaker 1) called for approval of the minutes; a member seconded, and the board approved the minutes by voice vote. The treasurer’s report, included in the meeting packet, was also moved, seconded and accepted after the chair said the books will be closed next month or the following month to provide fuller financial detail.
Chair said Dominion Energy could not attend the meeting and staff will try to schedule a meeting next Tuesday with company representatives, suggesting an in-person introduction between Dominion and county representatives. The board expects to update this item at a future meeting.
Speaker 1 announced that the Virginia Heartland Regional Economic Development Alliance has employed an executive director, Alex McCoy, and recommended inviting him to introduce himself and present plans at an upcoming EDA meeting. Speaker 3 added that McCoy had visited staff and expressed interest in building a relationship with the EDA.
Members also recapped a successful business appreciation luncheon, noting higher attendance and positive feedback. Chair adjourned the short meeting after a motion and voice vote.
The board’s next steps include scheduling the Dominion Energy meeting, inviting Alex McCoy to a future EDA meeting, and closing the county books to publish fuller treasurer details.
