Three capital improvement projects were then summarized: Portillo Park will receive the city’s first splash pad plus an expanded restroom and additional storage; Memorial Park Aquatic Center is planned as a full replacement with two pools (a competition pool and an activity pool with slide and lazy river); and Centennial Park’s two lakes received plumbing, aeration and new pumps to improve recirculation and water quality. Staff described the standard process for bidding, contracting, inspection and closeout on CIP work and said ribbon cuttings may occur depending on the project.
No formal votes were taken on CIP items during the presentation. Staff invited commissioner questions and noted continued monitoring and maintenance work across parks and facilities.
