The amendment updates local zoning rules to permit certain ADUs on lots currently zoned for single‑family homes, aligning city regulations with the new state statute. Tronberg said the packet included both the proposed ordinance and the act itself and noted the staff recommendation to proceed.
Commissioners called for the vote after brief procedural discussion; the motion passed unanimously. Staff will prepare the finalized ordinance for publication and subsequent city council action, consistent with the municipal adoption process.
The change is intended to increase housing options by allowing secondary dwelling units in qualifying neighborhoods. The commission did not record any dissent during the planning commission vote; any implementation details and administrative rules will be handled in staff follow‑up and at the council level.
