Subcommittee Hears 18 Agency Budgets; Items Temporarily Tabled for Follow‑up

Legislative Finance Subcommittee A cycled through brief presentations or LFC analyst summaries for 18 agencies during the afternoon session. Each agency provided budget highlights, performance metrics or requests and then answered members’ questions on staffing, program delivery and audit findings.

Among items covered were the New Mexico Compilation Commission (revenue and budget shifts), the New Mexico Sentencing Commission (request for additional positions and research staff after expanded workload), the State Commission of Public Records, several professional licensing boards (medical, nursing, engineers and surveyors), the New Mexico Racing Commission (updates on Ruidoso recovery and race‑meet rules), disability and rehabilitation programs, and the New Mexico Lottery Authority (FY25 gross revenues and scholarship transfers). Many agencies reported staffing vacancies, audit items or program backlogs and sought modest operating adjustments.

After each presentation, Representative Dixon moved to "temporarily table without prejudice" the agency item; the motions carried without objection. The tabled items will be revisited as the subcommittee compiles budget recommendations and requests additional detail where members asked for it (for example: workload data for sentencing grants, pipeline and draw schedules for housing funds, and capacity for Water Trust Board awards).
