The board voted to adopt an amendment to a June 23 motion on policy 2.808 concerning use of third‑party employment agencies. The amendment, introduced and read by Mister Daniels and moved into substitute by Miss Tomlin, says third‑party recruiting may be used only after other options are exhausted to fill hard‑to‑staff positions and that if the district dictates the terms of employment (the what, when, how, where and compensation) then common law will supersede any existing contract between an employee and a third‑party recruiting service. Miss Tomlin moved the substitution and Mister Miller seconded; the board approved the amendment on a roll call with multiple affirmative responses and one absence. As Mister Daniels put it, "common law will supersede any existing contract the employee may have with that third party recruiting service."
