Senate Bill 67 (health occupations: notation of veteran status and eligibility for benefits, Sen. Simon Ayre) passed the subcommittee unanimously and was reported favorable; no amendments or opposition were recorded.
Senate Bill 749, a crossfile of House Bill 723 concerning licensure issues, was amended in subcommittee to direct the Maryland Department of Health to develop a licensing plan for certain federally employed health workers who left federal positions after Jan. 20, 2025. The amendment was adopted and the bill was reported favorable as amended; the sponsor will consult the attorney general’s office about single-subject concerns.
The subcommittee adjourned and noted the full committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. for further senate bill hearings and likely votes.
