Corcoran reviews 2026 strategic goals; staff adds mural and advances park planning

City staff opened a work session review of Corcoran’s strategic goals and recommended carrying two items forward into 2026 while removing completed tasks.
The council heard that the gateway sign tied to the Tavira development is nearly complete; the remaining detail involves finalizing maintenance responsibilities. "We should get the last piece of it," staff said, noting the sign was part of the Tavira development and that the city had negotiated logo updates and a proposed foundation for the sign.
Council members also agreed to list a mural project as a 2026 objective so the city can "take credit for it" once installed; staff said a design has been chosen and the remaining steps are installation and final clean-up.
On parks, staff outlined a strategic park plan and said a joint session with the Parks and Trails Commission is scheduled for March 12 to discuss priorities for Heritage Park and other potential parks such as Bellwether and Tavira. Staff said the objective for parks is to identify what can be advanced with existing park-dedication dollars and to set priorities for the coming year.
The work session material also noted ongoing coordination with 3 Rivers Park District. Staff said the Weaver Lake Regional Trail discussions are progressing and that regional park conversations are paused while trail search-area work continues.
The session closed with staff proposing the mural and gateway sign remain as active 2026 goals until completed and the City Park rename removed from the active list because it has been accomplished.
