Fond du Lac board approves calendar, 4K agreements and STEM contract; students lead pledge

The Fond du Lac School District Board of Education approved several routine items at its regular meeting, including the consent agenda, the 2026–27 school calendar, 4‑year‑old early learning provider agreements and a contract with STEM Academy.

Board President Katie Moder called the meeting to order, read announcements about the process to fill a board vacancy left by Tom Oliver and led a moment of reflection. Students from Peyer Elementary led the Pledge of Allegiance and presented short remarks and posters about a growth mindset, which board members praised.

On business items, the board approved the consent agenda (minutes from 01/12/2026, personnel recommendations and the bimonthly financial report) by a 6–0 roll call. Trustees then approved the district’s designation of open‑enrollment spaces—administration recommended no caps for regular education spaces and limited access for special‑education open enrollment to protect resident services—and approved the 2026–27 calendar. Calendar presenters noted the draft had been shared widely and that the district added a predetermined weather makeup day on March 12 to reduce the likelihood of extending the school year.

The board also approved provider agreements for 4‑year‑old early learning for 2026–27 and moved to approve a contract with STEM Academy covering 02/01/2026–06/30/2028; trustees said they would meet twice yearly with STEM governance to increase oversight.

All motions reported in the meeting were approved by recorded roll-call votes of 6–0. The board then adjourned the regular meeting and convened a workshop to begin discussion of budget reductions.
