Staff said the last major amendments were in 2018 and that changes were intended to align local wording with state statute and improve clarity.
On vegetation, staff said section 7.22 reintroduced original language to require retention of one‑third of trees and shrubs greater than 5 inches diameter at breast height (DBH) in specific contexts, and clarified that vegetation alteration may be allowed only with an approved permit. Public comment was opened; Becky Sovde asked whether the "one‑third of trees and shrubs" language had been restored and said she appreciated that protection would preserve young saplings "the next generation's trees." Staff confirmed the latest copy posted on the county web page contains the restored language.
The board conducted a second reading (discussion only) and did not take final action at this meeting. Staff said a motion to approve would be placed on the next agenda to provide additional time for public review.
