After closed session, Lincoln County authorizes proprietary jail-lock replacement

The Lincoln County Board moved into a closed (executive) session to discuss security devices and returned to open session with direction to proceed on a unique, proprietary lock replacement at the county jail. County counsel and jail leadership explained the current configuration requires a vendor-specific product; replacing the locks through other vendors would require significantly more system-wide replacement.
A commissioner moved to authorize the director of building & grounds to proceed with the project in coordination with the sheriff and lieutenant; the motion was seconded and approved on roll call. County counsel (Tyler Holter) advised that the procurement was unique and that obtaining multiple competitive bids was unlikely without broader system replacement.
The board did not provide a dollar figure during the meeting; staff were directed to work with the sheriff’s office and building and grounds to implement the project and return any necessary documentation to the board.
