The community center drew the most scrutiny: staff proposed membership increases of roughly 16–18% and raised room rental rates. Councilmembers warned that repeated annual increases and recent community‑center PR issues could reduce membership and asked for a report comparing local gym rates, the center’s operational deficit history (revenues versus expenses), and the likely membership impact if the lap pool remains closed. Staff said departments would provide detailed explanations and could pull community‑center items off consent if needed.
The committee moved the fee schedule forward to the Feb. 3 business agenda for further council consideration.
