Horry County approves more than a dozen community benefit grants to local nonprofits and schools

Speaker 9 presented the list of requests and recommended allocations: $2,500 to North Little Beach Women's Club (district 1); $3,000 to Beautify Carolina Forest (district 3); $2,500 to Aynor High varsity football (district 11); $1,000 to Aynor High FFA (district 11); $1,000 to Aynor High Fellowship of Christian Athletes (district 11); $1,000 to the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club (district 6); $5,000 to Carolina Forest Community Church (district 3) for field maintenance; $4,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Horry County (district 8) to offset special tax-district fees for four homes in the Eagle Trace subdivision; $2,500 to Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina (combined districts); $3,500 to Hopeful Restoration Group/Spokes of Hope for a Christmas gift giveaway; $11,000 in combined district funds to the Horry County Police Department for Shop with a Cop and youth events; $5,000 for project-lifesaver bracelets for individuals with cognitive disorders (Horry County Behavioral Services); and $5,000 to Journey Church of Myrtle Beach to help host the "Rock the Block" community event.
Speaker 1 moved to approve the recommended awards and the council adopted them by voice vote. No individual vote tallies were recorded in the transcript; the approvals were announced as 'Aye.'
