The board unanimously approved the countywide modified 2026-27 calendar, later entered executive session to discuss land acquisition and the superintendent's evaluation, and after returning publicly rated the superintendent 'satisfactory.'
The Spartanburg School District One board on Monday unanimously approved the countywide proposed modified school calendar for the 2026-27 year and later completed an executive-session evaluation of the superintendent.
Mark Holden moved to accept the countywide proposed calendar; Debbie Baker seconded the motion and the board approved it by unanimous voice vote. The calendar sets July 30 as the first teacher workday, Aug. 6 as the first student day, and identifies inclement-weather make-up days on Oct. 15, March 15 and June 1, as presented to trustees.
Later in the meeting trustees moved into executive session for discussion of proposed land acquisition and the superintendent's evaluation. The board voted to enter executive session and later returned, publicly stating no action was taken during the closed session. Following that, trustee Debbie Baker moved that the superintendent's contract provisions and board policy had been satisfied and that the superintendent received a "satisfactory" rating on the evaluation scale; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
The board then adjourned.
