District administration presented an update on an elementary capacity study at the Feb. 13 meeting, outlining four possible scenarios to address projected overcrowding.
Tony and consultant Ron Stewart said the district has worked to verify student addresses and neighborhood-school assignments (reviewing up to seven years of records) to improve projection accuracy. The administration proposed forming a stakeholder advisory group of parents and staff to review the scenarios and asked for public input before bringing a final recommendation to the board. Ron Stewart estimated roughly one year is typically needed to complete planning, permitting, bidding and installation for modular classroom solutions or similar interventions.
Board members asked when overcrowding would materialize; administration said some schools (Ruraldale, Molalla Elementary) are at or near capacity now and that the target for implementing a solution is 2026, with a public process and additional meetings planned.
