Board approves cooperative track-and-field agreement with Colton High School

Molalla River SD 35 agreed to let Colton High School students participate on Molalla teams for track and field this spring to address low Colton participation; administrators said liability coverage will be managed through PACE/OSBA and fees will help offset costs.
The board approved a cooperative agreement that allows Colton High School students to compete with Molalla’s track and field program this spring.
Board members said Colton lacks sufficient participants and coaching resources for a standalone program. Athletic director Lord described the arrangement: Colton athletes will compete with Molalla; individual placings will be treated per the cooperative rules described and fees paid by Colton will help offset Molalla’s program costs. Board members asked about liability and coverage; administration said PACE (through OSBA membership) addresses district liability concerns and that both districts retain certain responsibilities.
A director moved to approve the cooperative agreement and the motion was seconded; the board approved the motion by voice/raise of hand.
