Finance staff also highlighted about $1.2 million in facilities expenditures that were fund-balance items approved in the prior year but paid in the current year (examples: Little Mountain painting $223,000; $827,000 for furniture at Mid Carolina Middle; $142,000 for furniture at Newberry Middle). The backstop for New Carolina High School softball remains in procurement; the project is above the $10,000 threshold and will go out to bid.
Board members suggested including work-order trends or average age as a strategic-plan metric for future monitoring.
