The board heard a brief budget-to-actual presentation from Speaker 4, who said, "As of Friday, revenue collections are at 42.32% right around 38,474,000," and that expenditures stood at about 54.17% ("around 49,608,000"). Speaker 4 told members that property tax collections had only begun posting and that the February budget-to-actual report should show revenues and expenditures more closely aligned.
On the audit proposal, Speaker 1 moved to consider the audit for the two fiscal years; Speaker 2 moved to approve and Speaker 1 announced a second by "Mister Jones." The board voted orally with members saying "Aye," and Speaker 1 announced, "Ayes have it," declaring the motion carried. The same voting pattern — an oral "Aye" vote and a declaration that "Ayes have it" — was used to adopt the budget calendar.
Regarding the lease amendment, members asked for clarification on the property's location. Speaker 4 described the parcel as farmland near Highway 35, bordering Lafayette Parish and near Ebenezer. Speaker 5 said the lease needs to add another person for USDA purposes (identified in the meeting as the individual's nephew). That amendment was moved, seconded and approved by oral vote with the board chair declaring the motion carried.
