Robbie Robbins elected vice chair; Gaines reaffirmed as chair for 2026

The Parks and Community Enrichment Commission confirmed Commissioner Robbie Robbins as vice chair and reaffirmed Chair Gaines for a second term during its Jan. 15 meeting.

City Clerk Rosanna Montesinos read election procedures and timing for officer terms, noting that newly elected officers begin their terms at the commission’s next regular meeting on Feb. 5. "Commissioners may nominate another commissioner or themselves," Montesinos said while outlining eligibility rules and the two-year limit on serving in either office.

Interim chair Joe Flores nominated Commissioner Robbins for vice chair; Commissioner Uribe seconded the nomination. The commission voted in favor by voice vote with no abstentions recorded and Robbins accepted the position on the record, saying, "I accept." Officials noted Chair Gaines had indicated acceptance of a second term by written note because she was absent from the meeting.

The clerk’s instructions and the commission’s subsequent votes complete the formal officer-selection process for 2026. The newly elected chair and vice chair will begin their terms at the commission’s next regular meeting on Feb. 5, 2026.
