Coventry council fills commissions, approves grant-funded playgrounds and annex furnishings

The Coventry Town Council on Jan. 13 confirmed several appointments and adopted multiple procurement resolutions tied to grant-funded park improvements and the community-learning annex.
Appointments: The council elevated Joshua (Josh) Magnon from alternate to full member of the Coventry Historic Preservation Commission and swore in Kenneth De Silva as a member of the Coventry Planning Commission. Councilors debated whether appointees should appear in person before being confirmed; the body proceeded with the approvals citing prior application review and volunteer recruitment challenges.
Playgrounds and parks: The council approved a block of four resolutions to purchase and install playground equipment at Quinick and Harris parks and to award installation contracts; those projects are paid for through CDBG, DEM, and other grant sources. Omasta Landscaping was the low bidder for installation, and lead times of roughly 10–12 weeks were discussed for equipment delivery.
Annex furnishings: Council also approved a procurement for furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) for the Coventry Community Learning Center annex, contracting with WB Mason after an initial round of bids produced no responses and staff followed up with vendors. The FF&E package includes library and office furnishings, computer-lab equipment and café fixtures and is part of the larger grant-funded annex project.
