Clay County BZA retains chair, vice chair and approves minutes

At its Jan. 27, 2026 meeting the Clay County Board of Zoning Adjustment retained Commissioner Scott Wagner as chair and Commissioner John Carpenter as vice chair for 2026 and unanimously approved minutes from Sept. 23 and Dec. 16, 2025.
The Clay County Board of Zoning Adjustment opened its Jan. 27, 2026 meeting by holding elections for board leadership and approving prior meeting minutes.
Board members moved and seconded to retain Commissioner Scott Wagner as chairperson and Commissioner John Carpenter as vice chairperson for the 2026 BZA year; the board then voted in favor on roll call. The clerk called the roll and recorded votes from Joanne Lawson, John Carpenter and Scott Wagner in support.
The board also moved and seconded to approve the minutes from the Sept. 23, 2025 and Dec. 16, 2025 BZA meetings. The roll-call approval was recorded and the minutes were approved.
Those routine administrative items concluded the opening portion of the agenda and the board proceeded to a sworn testimony and a single hearing on Case 25-141 later in the meeting.
