Ogden City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2025‑19 on Oct. 7, 2025, updating the Ogden City Youth Council bylaws. The proposed amendments rename "chairperson" and "vice chairperson" to "chair" and "vice chair," and clarify leadership election guidelines to avoid automatic appointment when only one candidate expresses interest.
Brandon Garside, communications director and youth council advisor, introduced a semiannual report and asked three youth council members to present. Chair Alaya Salgado, Treasurer Navette, and Public Relations Manager Lily Boudreaux described recent tours (including the water treatment plant), upcoming Union Station and Public Safety Building tours, service projects such as community Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and outreach plans (flyers, Instagram, high‑school outreach) to increase youth enrollment.
Councilmembers praised the youth presenters for professionalism and encouraged continued participation; Councilmember Myers moved to adopt the bylaw amendments, seconded by Vice Chair Hyer, and roll call recorded Aye, approving Resolution 2025‑19. Members later took a group photo with the youth council.
The Youth Council will continue planned tours and community service work; staff will implement the clarified election procedures.
