Riverview council approves appointments, new fees and ordinance first reading

Riverview — At its Nov. 25, 2025 meeting, the Riverview City Council unanimously approved a package of appointments, resolutions and a first reading of an ordinance that defines the municipal term “minor.”
The council voted to appoint Michael Wale and Kevin Dillon to the City Planning Commission to fill unexpired terms ending July 31, 2026, and to appoint David Robbins to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a term expiring July 31, 2028. The council also reappointed Frederick Stall and Mary Rose to the Board of Review for terms set to expire Dec. 31, 2028. Councilwoman O'Neil moved the appointments and Councilman Webb seconded; roll calls on each item were recorded as unanimous.
The council adopted a resolution establishing new golf-course rates and fees for the period beginning March 17, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026, and approved a separate performance resolution covering Wayne County permits and annual maintenance work in rights-of-way, together with an annual special-events permit. Council members recorded unanimous yes votes on both resolutions.
City staff presented a requested increase to non-contract gate rates for the Riverview Land Preserve, saying the annual gate-rate review is based on marketplace trends and inflation and is intended to keep the preserve competitive. The council authorized the gate increase effective Jan. 1, 2026, by unanimous vote.
Council also approved the 2026 meeting calendars for Riverview boards, commissions and the city council itself, citing compliance with the Open Meetings Act, and authorized first reading by title only of proposed Ordinance No. 756. The proposed ordinance would repeal and readopt specified sections of Article 9, Chapter 38 of the Riverview Code to define “minor” as being under the age of 18. The motion for first reading was moved by Councilman Gannaga and supported by Councilman Webb; the vote was unanimous.
