Riverview Council swears in three members, approves routine business
Summary
At its Dec. 1 meeting, the Riverview City Council administered oaths to Scott Williams, Nicole Clark and Rita Gannaga, approved prior minutes, appointed David Robbins to the Local Officers Compensation Committee and waived a purchasing-manual ethics restriction to permit attendance at a Dec. 5 holiday event.
Riverview’s City Council on Dec. 1 administered oaths of office to three newly elected members and disposed of several routine items before adjourning to a reception.
District Court Judge Elizabeth DeSanto led the oath ceremony. Scott Williams, Nicole Clark and Rita Gannaga each repeated the oath to “support the Constitution of the United States, the constitution of the state of Michigan and the charter of the city of Riverview” and take on the duties of office. After the ceremony the council welcomed the newly sworn members to the dais.
The council approved the Nov. 17, 2025 meeting minutes and the condensed version for publication. The motion to approve the minutes was made by Councilwoman Gannaga and supported by Councilman Robins; a roll-call vote recorded unanimous support from present members.
On administrative business the council appointed David Robbins to fill an unexpired term on the Local Officers Compensation Committee through July 31, 2030. David Robbins’s application was read into the record; the motion to appoint was made by Councilwoman O'Neil and carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Separately the council considered and approved a motion to waive purchasing manual section 13 (ethics) so that attendance at a specified Dec. 5 holiday event hosted by a local business would not violate the manual’s restrictions. The motion, read into the record on the agenda, was supported by council members and passed by unanimous roll call.
All votes reported in the meeting were recorded by roll call with the members present voting in favor. The council adjourned at 7:23 p.m. and held a reception for the newly elected officials immediately afterward.
