The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners approved a $200,000 grant from the county’s Industrial Development Revolving Fund to Fort George for a CO2 recapture project at the brewery on the waterfront.
County Manager described the request as a forward‑looking, value‑added manufacturing investment intended to capture CO2 for reuse in the brewing process and possibly to supply other local brewers. He noted that the Industrial Development Revolving Fund is made up of proceeds from the sale or lease of industrial property and is not general‑fund money.
A commissioner who reviewed the project praised the Fort George representative (name in transcript appears as “Chris Nimmowel”) and noted the potential economic and job benefits. The motion to approve the $200,000 grant was moved and seconded; the Board voted by voice and the motion carried.
Staff reported the award would leave a remaining fund balance (reported in the meeting) and that the project aligns with prior uses of the Industrial Development Revolving Fund to support local industrial or value‑added projects.
