Pat presented a Motorola bid that bundles body-worn cameras, in-car cameras for 11 patrol cars (expanding from six) and an interview-room unit, describing the offering as a five-year subscription that includes replacement and storage services. Pat said the package maintains the department's existing WatchGuard/Motorola ecosystem and redaction tools used to share video with prosecutors. The initial upfront payment was quoted at roughly $63,000 for year one with subsequent payments across the contracted term; Pat said the department obtained at least one comparative bid and judged Motorola to be the best fit for interoperability.
Separately, Fire Chief David asked for support to replace an obsolete Lucas 2 mechanical CPR device after a key arm broke and parts were unavailable; he said a new unit costs about $31,000, the department raised $13,500 in grants/donations and requested roughly $17,000 from city funds to cover the remainder. Council approved motions for both purchases by voice vote.
Council members asked about alternative vendors and procurement details; Pat said other bids were considered but Motorola/WatchGuard best maintained county interoperability, and Tom/Pat confirmed comparative pricing had been gathered though the request package emphasized continuity with existing systems.
