Wenatchee joins regional opioid-abatement contract; city has roughly $375,000 available

The Wenatchee City Council voted to approve an interlocal contract with regional partners and Carillon Behavioral Health to administer opioid-abatement programs funded by distributor settlement dollars.
City Administrator Laura Gloria said the city entered a memorandum of understanding with other local jurisdictions and the Washington State Accountable Community of Health regions to set a regional framework for distributing settlement funds and required creation of an opioid abatement council. Gloria said the contract with Carillon would let the council direct how funds are used while Carillon performs administration, issues RFPs and manages a public dashboard.
On the account balance, Gloria told the council: “So, right now, we have about 375,000 in the bank.” She said the council had allocated approximately $300,000 for the first term of the contract and that payout schedules from the settlements are inconsistent, so the city will add to the pool as funds arrive.
A council member moved to approve the multi-jurisdiction contract and authorize the city administrator to sign; the motion passed by voice vote.
The contract creates a structure for regional implementation and a public-facing dashboard, but Gloria stressed each participating agency retains discretion over how it spends its share of settlement funds.
