District safety update: cameras, crosswalk projects and rollout of EJIX alert platform

A district camera project has assessed all sites for placement, and staff said they are prioritizing having cameras at every school by the end of the 2024–25 school year.
The board was briefed on the EJIX platform, which provides real‑time safety notifications. Romero said staff reduced response times after implementing EJIX: "When one person set off an alert...within 2 minutes we recognized that this was an accidental push." He explained the district will provide tablets to substitutes so they can access EJIX at sites where email‑based access is impractical.
Trustees pressed for timelines, clarity on city coordination for crosswalks, and vendor‑access protocols. Staff described vendor vetting (background checks, fingerprinting) and sign‑in via Raptor; contractors must provide lists of potential employees who may access campus jobs. On substitute training, staff said a training rollout is planned once tablets and site‑assignments are in place.
