Planner Zachary Smallwood presented an amendment to section 17.156.020 to add land-use 7410 (sports activities) as a permitted use in the CN (commercial neighborhood) zone at a limited scale. The change is intended to enable small recreational or sports uses (e.g., small indoor courts or activity studios) adjacent to neighborhood commercial areas while limiting building size to 2,500 square feet to reduce neighborhood impacts (SEG 2779'SEG 2806).
Smallwood said the planning commission held a public hearing and voted 5'0to'0 to recommend approval; no public comments were received at the council hearing. Council members discussed the scope and whether alcohol sales would be allowed for food uses associated with recreation; staff said any on-premise alcohol would be reviewed in the context of the specific use (SEG 2834'SEG 2844).
The council voted to adopt the ordinance.
